How To Give Youth Body Advice

If you are above 40 years old, it is likely that you are now a confident and responsible person. It is also safe to assume that you are comfortable with who you are and what you are. At age 40, you are far from old age but you are no longer a kid. You probably look back to your much younger days and smile as you remember some of your fears and insecurities back then. If the scenario painted above describes you then you are the right person to give youth body advice. As you probably know, many young people are not happy with the body the Almighty has given them. They want a better body and this might become an obsession with some young people. Below are some things you should talk about if you are tasked with giving youth body advice.

The Other Person is not Better than You

Many young people have the impression that the other person has a better body than they do. The boys want their shoulders to as wide as another boy’s or they want to have bulging muscles like their friends. Most girls feel their friends have longer hair and a better figure so they want to be like these other girls. Sometimes, the obsession might focus on specific body parts and this is bad for the self-esteem of the youth in question. You are an experienced and older person so it is your duty to tell the younger ones that inherited genes have a lot to do with how different people look. You should point out to the young ones that they should be proud of their looks because they inherited these looks from their parents.

Advice to Overweight Youth

We live in a society that promotes the slim and trim figure. This is why some young people who happen to be on the large side are unhappy with their size. If you are advising young people in this situation, you should point out that being relatively big is not a disease. The right call is to encourage the kids to exercise so that they will lose weight and get back into shape.

Advice on Complexion

Some young people are worried about the color of their skin and the color of their eyes. Some of these young people feel they are too dark or too fair. Some of them might even consider dangerous cosmetic procedures to change their skin color. As an experienced advisor, it is your duty to encourage the youth to enjoy what they have and avoid procedures that might place them a risk.
