Quit Smoking Hypnosis Program: Does It Work?

If you ever attempted to stop smoking, you know firsthand how incredibly difficult it can be to give up the habit. With the large variety of smoking cessation aids available, you may have wondered about a quit smoking hypnosis program and how well it works.

The habit of smoking can be immensely challenging to quit, many have tried and failed multiple times. However, the failure rarely results because of a lack of trying on behalf of the smoker. Most smokers would love to quit smoking once and for all but find it overwhelming and seemingly impossible which leads them to try out things they may have never considered before such as hypnosis smoking cessation programs.

What is Hypnosis?

Most people have seen hypnosis done as a party trick or at the hands of a stage magician, but few understand what it is, by definition. Hypnosis refers to an altered state of consciousness wherein the participants appears to be in a trance or sleep-like state. They lose the ability to perform actions voluntarily and are highly responsive to directions or suggestions, usually with a determined trigger. It can be used as an aid to recover lost memories, determine deep-seated psychological issues and assist in overcoming addictions. While the use of hypnosis is considered controversial, there are studies that show is it is effective for some people and, out of those people, highly effective for several of them.

With hypnosis, in relation to smoking cessation, the purpose is to replace common thoughts and beliefs about smoking with positive thoughts and affirmations. This ultimately encourages the smoker to quit relying on a crutch that is harmful to their health and to let go of the hold it has on their life. It can help with the reason for quitting, reduction of cravings or better handling the withdrawal symptoms that accompany quitting.

In general, there are three principles that the smoker may come across while hypnotized. The first principle is that smoking harms the body with poisons, the second is that the body needs to be healthy and whole to live and thrive and the third is that you need to protect your body as much as you want to live. The more you want to live, the more you will protect your body. These principles are often accompanied by suggestions from the hypnotherapist. These suggestions are designed to become subliminal messages which influence the patient and aid them in their battle to eliminate smoking once and for all.

If you are ready to quit smoking, a quit smoking hypnosis program might be just the thing you need to put that pack down for the last time.
